At its origin, the Domaine was a dairy and livestock farm. Then in the course of time life changed and in 1992 the old farm was renovated and converted to welcome its first holiday makers. The Gîte de l’Ancienne Ferme was born.
Certainly, the lakes were already there, but Nature, always invasive and surrounding them with undergrowth and trees, had hidden them from the view of those few walkers who were discovering the Plateau of the Thousand Lakes. In fact it was the appreciations of the Domaine’s first holiday makers which revealed the site’s natural richness and its assets. As a result, the owners then started the long task of clearing and landscaping around the lakes before building the three wooden chalets which have made of the Domaine des Rouillons its reputation.
1997 saw the opening of the Gîte de la Fougeraie , followed in 2000 by the Gîte de la Ronceraie and finally the Gîte de la Genêtraie in 2003. Every year, Michel and Evelyne welcome 600 holiday makers who are the best ambassadors for Green Holiday Making on the Plateau des 1000 Etangs.
